I did it. I've been talking about getting a pair of Crocs and finally did it. No, not the original 'clown shoe' ones, but a pair that look like regular flats. I've been wearing them around the house, and I think I'm in love. There may be a major fashion faux-pas tomorrow as I plan to wear these suckers to class... with socks (insert shocked face.... here).
However, question of the day. For all of you out there who are like me and are just getting into running, do you ever feel judged when you walk into a sports store? The boyfriend and I went into a Nike store today, since I saw a sale sign and was interested. And as soon as I walked in, I felt like the clerks were going to start pointing and chanting; "Interloper!" With maybe a Winnie the Pooh meets that episode of the Simpsons where Bart destroys Thanksgiving acid-trip themed background. Needless to say, I didn't make it into the sale corner that I wanted to, but scampered out of there after inspecting a pair of socks. Maybe I should have been wearing Spandex workout gear?

New sneakers, second attempt
Officially, I'm on week 2 of a walk-to-run program off Women's Health. During week 1 I learned why you need running shoes, not the cheap-o Walmart sneakers bought last year for gym shoes (where the treadmill was given a wide berth, thankyouverymuch. I liked the elliptical more, ok!?). After some sharp, shooting pains in my calves, I decided to take a break for a few days. From nearly everything- walking, Shape's Bikini Workout Plan.
Today, however, is a new week. Morning workout? Check. Off to mall to buy actual runners? Check. Go for run? Check! Ok, so my calves are still a little angry with me, but I'm starting to think it's a good hurt, and they felt a lot better with proper shoes. They're all silver and pink and pretty and springy. In sane-person terms; Adidas Boost 2. I got them because they weren't too pricey, and since I'm new to this whole running thing, didn't feel like spending a good chunk of change on shoes.
Next goal? If I get through this Women's Health program, I'm getting one of those Nike+ kits for my iPod.
